Roger Federer

This morning, I watched on NBC as Roger Federer became the sixth man in tennis history to complete a career grand slam, winning the French Open over fellow countryman Robin Soderling.  As a side note, I’m definitely more of a Nadal fan, but I can’t help but feel that Federer really deserved this championship.  It’s amazing to see what Federer went through to get to this point.

It was only a few months ago when Federer was in tears after losing to his tennis arch rival at the Australian Open.  It was profound experience to see this man in such pain.  To give you perspective, this man already had 13 tennis grand slam championships under his belt.  And yet, he still has so much passion for the sport.  He still wants to win his next one that badly.

After one of the toughest tennis defeats in his life, Federer came back to Roland Garros with the same passion and focus that he had always maintained. In the face of all the doubters that arose, he plowed through the competition and won the championship that eluded him for four straight years.  His comeback was nothing short of amazing.  He is without a doubt the greatest ever.
